As Ferrari chairman, what could be more pleasant than a gentle drive around the Valencia race track in a shiny red California, with your two F1 drivers perched happily on the back?
A chance for you – Luca di Montezemolo, for that is who you are – to show off Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa to the adoring crowds at the Ferrari world finals. What could possibly go wrong?
The video you are about to watch, we must warn you, is not that most dramatic you will see this week. Certainly not as spectacular as that Finnish rally crash compilation. It is, however, one of the most inexplicable.
What, exactly, did Big Luca expect to happen as he piloted the California across the gravel trap? Does he believe he can now defy the laws of physics?
A couple of points. Firstly, note how much quicker Massa is than Alonso to jump down and try to push the stricken Ferrari free.
Secondly, and far more importantly, what the hell is going on with Alonso’s sweater?

y did he drive in there for? O.o. Well. At least he got closer to the crowds and there is more time taking photos of fernando and felipe. :P Fernando, Felipe and Ferrari. XD

Haha! Good laff. To be honest: I think that sweater is amazing. It is so wrong that it is extremely cool. Add a pair of neat shades in the mix, and there you go. Also, I don't really think it matters much what he does or does not wear, when it comes to picking up senoritas :-)

that's a sweater i'd expect a golfer to wear.an older golfer like jack nichlaus.not a f1 driver.must explain alonso's lethargic reaction, the lazy pig.he's being outpaced by a guy who had his head mashed in by a rogue spring..why is is that all ferrari people have something wrong in the head?

It looked like he was trying to do a U turn and drive back past the crowd ... I don't think he realised it was a gravel trap because he was waving to the crowd. Maybe he assumed it was concrete or a light gravel like in a driveway. Or that the California had more ground clearance than the F1 cars so should have no problems. Alright, I have run out of excuses and ideas. He is just a bit of a plonker. He should wear the sweater.
