Land Rover have a new green policy. Buy a Discovery 3 HSE V8 4.4 petrol then it will break down and Land Rover will leave you to walk for the next 2 months! Even if you can't because you are disabled!! Great idea? And you think I am joking! Believe me I am not! My Reg BN05 OMW You know who i am Land Rover! PS i live at 1000 feet inon the west coast of Wales.

The new technology is really awe-inspiring, yet....where is the customer service? Here in the N.W. and on the net as of late all that I have been hearing and reading are complaints from newer Rover owners about how they are treated at the dealerships and at what great lengths those dealers will go through to avoid the treatment of malfunctions, equipment failures and the like, including excessively long wait periods for repairs without the offer of loaner vehicles prior to the warranty coming to term. The same was with the Freelander ranging from it's constantly failed head gasket, cooling system and frozen cam issues to the whole air-ride suspension and ECU bobbles of the Range Rover until-post 2003. Am I daft? Where has the earth-conquering drive across the abyss support of the earlier years gone? 88 RR and 96 Disco respectively.

But doesn't this miss the point of the whole challenge? The Land Rover Discovery did not actually make it to the summit without getting hopelessly stuck in the terrain and had to be rescued by a ground crew...twice. Epic fail.

I don't understand the shows love of Land Rover. The general impression I have gotten from owners in the US has not been good. Reliability, cheap workmanship, lack of customer service, questionable parts and just the idea that "It's a Land Rover, it has to be good" attitude are all major concerns. They seem like the have a don't ask, don't tell policy at the dealerships. I would guess that most owners don't purchase one of these to take off roading or to haul a boat. I would like them to take a top of the line off road capable Jeep. It is not in the same class on paper as a Land Rove but you do see them actuallly off road.
