Airwaves Pros - Profiles

Meet the Airwaves pros

Matthew Wilson - Stobart VK M-Sport Ford

Matthew Wilson is ready to 'KICK UP A GEAR®', after three seasons in the World Rally Championship. Each season has seen Wilson get better and better, with more top 10 finishes in 2008 than ever (10) and a best-ever start to a season already in 2009. Just 22 years old, Matthew is the youngest driver to have ever scored a stage win (on Rally Argentina in 2006), a habit he's hoping to get into as the 2009 season unfolds.

Leon Camier - Airwaves Yamaha

Leon Camier is in his second season with the Airwaves Yamaha team and is one of the title favourites after three wins in 2008 and five top-three finishes. Like Wilson, Leon is just 22 but won his first bike race at the age of just six and has a very clear race philosophy: to be the fastest when he can, and the smartest when he can’t! Watch out for Camier’s Airwaves Yamaha in 2009 and a title challenge from the Kent boy.

James Ellison - Airwaves Yamaha

Joining Leon Camier at Airwaves Yamaha this year is the experienced British rider, James Ellison, twice European Superstock Champion and winner of the World Endurance Championship in 2003. Ellison has spent the winter months wisely, preparing himself as fully as possible to 'KICK UP A GEAR®' during 2009, "running, cycling hundreds of miles and spending endless days and nights in the gym."

Rob Collard - Airwaves BMW

Rob Collard is a veteran of many different forms of racing. The 41-year old has won in Hot Rods, single seaters and now British Touring Cars. Surrey-born Collard has scored over 500 points in the BTCC since his debut in 2000, the versatile racer has also contested national rallies and Porsche Carrera Supercup.

Jonathan Adam - Airwaves BMW

Fife's Jonathan Adam was chosen as a BRDC Superstar for 2008-09 and it's easy to why – he's the SEAT Cupra Champion of 2008 and 2007 and the 2005 Renault Clio Cup Champion, too. It's quite a racing pedigree for a man who only made the switch to racing cars six years ago after cutting his teeth, like all great drivers, in karting.
