Driven: Audi R8 GT
So, it's the day after the Bathurst 12 Hour, and Bathurst Council has kindly agreed not to re-open the 6.2km of public road that winds around Mount Panorama - this will possibly irk the owners of the lovely little vineyards that dot the side of the circuit, but it's more than okay with us. For in pit lane sits the only Audi R8 GT in the country, and we were allowed to have at it on Australia's most fearsome circuit.

Sharing much of its underskin componentry with the Lamboghini Gallardo, the R8 is nevertheless a different proposition to drive. In short, it wants you to feel like a driving god, where the Lambo wants to make a little bit of wee come out.
Five of these bad boys are already sold to locals, at an eye-popping $470,700 per car - quiete a staggering leap over the $280k of the standard V10 or, to put it another way, $7916 for every extra kilowatt extra you get over the standard V10. And you pay $1900 for each of the 100 kilograms the R8 GT loses over the standard car, too...
Still, it's a brilliant car - see what the TG UK guys thought of it here. And check out our drive at Bathurst below.

You may have got the track for another day, but the video was very one-dimensional. Not a single shot of the car outside. It must have looked awesome slicing down the mountain before the main straight.
