NSW mobile cameras live today

While other states have had them for years - and why Victorians don't refuse en masse to pay their registrations until they're given a fair go is beyond me - it's NSW's turn to experience the mobile camera phenomenon.

Now, while I wouldn't bet my house on it, the word is that if you get snapped in the first month, you'll be issued with a warning, not a fine - but hey, don't shoot the messenger if that ain't true. In the meantime, if you see a white Ford Territory like the one in the pic, slow down...

The coppers and the gummint' will, meanwhile, continue to scalp mum-and-dad motorists by fair means and foul, at the expense of driver education and drug driving/mobile handset using/unregistered and uninsured vehicle infringements.

The NSW government could lower the road toll in one fell swoop by replacing each and every camera with a real, live police patrol, something that even the coppers agree with.

Anyway, off the soapbox; check out what Our Jeremy thinks of cameras...

... then look at our gallery to see what we'd do to speed cameras. If it wasn't illegal, of course...

I'm seriously fed-up with having to spend all my time monitering my speed for fear of being booked, fined and losing points INSTEAD OF WATCHING THE ROAD AND CONCENTRATING ON WHAT'S REALLY IMPORTANT AS IN ALL THE OTHER NITWITS DRIVING ON THE SAME ROAD AS ME. Surely there's enough distractions on the road without these revenue raising Blinky Bills! It's just getting worse and worse now that "they" are saying the "unnofficial leeway" is to be reduced to 4kph. That's a joke UNLESS you are watching your speedo instead driving far enough ahead of your car to AVOID accidents. THIS WILL CAUSE MORE ACCIDENTS THAN IT PREVENTS!! btw.....ask a Highway Patrol Officer what they think.....I know the answer you'll get.

I'm pretty sure mobile cam-rage will be the next-big-thing, and a lot of lawsuits.

radar cameras = lazy policing. Instead of the Territory being plain white, if it were dressed in Police colours it would go a long way to slowing down the traffic; but being plain white says to me it's just a huge revenue raiser. Time to vote out the state government....

I have been to Sydney many times and I think this is ridiculous. The amount of fixed speed cameras that poor Sydney drivers have to put up with, and now this.
