Arden's Jaguar XKR

Arden’s 320km/h Jag XKR

Maybe it's that bling-tastic gallery we built the other day, but we can't help feeling there are some cars that simply shouldn't be modified.

Japanese coupes, massive German sedans, they're fair game - but it's surely sacrilege to take the spanners to the lovely Jag XKR?

Not, admittedly, that this effort from German tuning house Arden is one of the worst. No snakeskin leather interior at least. But that new front clip doesn't do much for the Jag's slinky lines, does it?

Slightly worryingly - you're looking at a 300km/h+ convertible: Arden has bumped power from 380kW to a supercar-worrying 400kW courtesy of a new exhaust, with the happy consequence that it'll now top out at a nice round 321km/h.

When the roof's down, quite what happens to your face at that speed remains unclear. As, presumably, does your vision.

Still, fast or not, we've got to put our foot down here. This modified XKR is a wrongness. Anyone want to disagree?

The front doesnt look particulary good, but its still a gorgeous car, and to make it faster wont be a bad thing. Also in Season 13, Jeremy suggests that the Jag should be upgraded.

I have a 2007 xkr convertible and what I want to know is how they have solved the front lifting over 200kph? I have taken mine up to 250kph and its not a very secure feeling, it really wants to fly, I cannot concievably see how this car can do over 300kph without significant modifications to the aerodynamics, and believe me that new chin spoiler is not going to do it. Clarkson was spot on with his assessment a couple of years ago. Still I love it but its not a car designed for outright speed.
