Paris 2010: Brabus tunes the i20
Yes people, there are OTHER CARS at Paris. It's not all about super-light Lamborghinis and jet-engined Jags. Not one bit.
In fact, we aim to bring you literally a couple more bits of news from the Paris motor show, starting with this little golden nugget: the Brabus i20.
See more pics of the Brabus i20
Those German nutbags famous for pimping out Merc AMGs (they've even done something called an 'SLS') have decided big horsepower cars are like, so last week dahling, and have instead pimped a South Korean hero.
This, the i20 Sport Edition, was 'developed with Brabus', and as such gets a flared front skirt and wheel arches, grille mesh inserts for the radiator, daytime running lights, smoked windows and 17-inch Brabus alloys.
While this looks subtly cool, the inside screams its intent because it's BRIGHT ORANGE. The Recaros sit inside an ORANGE dashboard (covered in leather), next to a seven-inch touch screen nav and a chrome knob. If you're any bit as juvenile as we are, you should only have read 'touch' and 'knob' from that last sentence. And then cried with laughter.
Hyundai will release further details on the engine spec of this i20 Sport Edition some time next year, either because a) it's astonishing, or b) nobody actually cares.
If it's a), we're rather hopeful it will be proper old school and feature an exorbitantly massive turbocharger strapped to the 1.6-litre petrol engine from the i30 and produce enough turbo lag to very suddenly unleash a burst of power sufficient to tear a hole through time.
Like we said, we're rather hopeful.

You're aware of China of course, you know it exists, and you're aware that ...
On first assessment, you’d say it was a pretty un-TopGear kind of car – it’ ...

did Hyundai ask them to do this or did Brabus take it upon themselves? Either way, Turbo lag ftw! There also seems to be a fair few of these hot variants of boring cars coming out, Maybe someone should get Group A going again and get them all on-track?
