20-year-old crashes dad’s Gumpert Apollo
And you
thought you were in trouble when you
damaged the mirrors on your mum's Fiesta. Imagine the pain that awaits the
young scamp who did this...
What you see above is the remains of a Gumpert Apollo. It is no longer in any
position to present itself as the same model which can lap our track in record
time. A 20-year-old took this very Gump' - his dad's prized $750,000 hypercar - for a spin but lost
control of it around a bend, binning it biblically.
Luckily, he and his 19-year-old female passenger emerged virtually
unscathed after the smash, which happened in the German town of Brokdorf, near
Hamburg. Unluckily for the Gumpert, well, as you can see, it no longer ‘works'.
A police spokesman helpfully added: "The car is a total loss."
You might remember the stats for the Apollo, but if not, the 485kW 4.2-litre Audi V8 produces 850Nm ft of torque and hits 100km/h in three seconds, and will do 0-200km/h in 8.9 seconds. It tops out at around 360km/h and there are also 520kW and 600kW versions available. Remember: in Series 11 it was the fastest ever car around the Top Gear track, a record only recently broken in the last series by the Ariel Atom 500 and the Veyron SuperSport.
Oh dear.

You're aware of China of course, you know it exists, and you're aware that ...
On first assessment, you’d say it was a pretty un-TopGear kind of car – it’ ...
