Merc breaks world drift record
Most days, Mauro Calo makes a living by terrifying hapless students for Mercedes-Benz in Brooklands in the UK. But Mauro has earned himself a place in the record books of hoonage by taking a stock C63 over the weekend and drifting it nonstop for 2308m. Yes. More than two kilometres.
In fact, Mauro would have kept going, but the Merc's rear tyre cried enough and exploded after eight circuits of the Brooklands handling pad. Some pics here...
But here's a little known fact - TopGear Australia's own Steve Pizzati is a Mercedes-Benz driving instructor in his other life, and we've seen him drift cars at impossible angles while eating a cheese sandwich. Surely we Aussie can top this measly effort by the Poms?
