New AMG E-Class!

If the styling of the new Merc E-Class hasn’t exactly floated your boat – and you wouldn’t be alone – maybe this will help.

With impressive rapidity, Merc has already announced an ‘AMG Sports Package’ for its big saloon, available with any E-Class when it goes on sale in March.

So what do you get? A fairly subtle body kit, for a start, along with 18-inch AMG alloys (which still look worryingly undersized) and lowered suspension. Inside the cabin, there’s some extra aluminium on the pedals, a bit of leather on the steering wheel, and seats covered in something called ‘man-made leather’. Poor men.

Maybe more importantly, the AMG kit is a decent nod towards what the new V8-powered E63 AMG will look like, if and when it appears. But the E63 will get bigger wheels. And more exhausts. And more aero stuff. OK, it won’t look very much like this at all…
