New Impreza previewed
Has Subaru finally learned the lessons of the past? There's a fine line between 'interesting' and 'my god, what the HELL is THAT?' when it comes to acceptance of unusual car design, and Subaru has taken an almost perverse pleasure in pushing the boundaries of taste and style over the years. Subaru Vortex, anyone?
Even the current generation of Impreza hasn't been universally praised as a design masterpiece (though it still sells bloody well). So it's with great interest that we look forward to Suby whipping the hanky all the way off the new Impreza in New York on 21 April.
We first previewed the new car back in September, and our guess that the new car will debut with a new 2.0-litre boxer four-potter and a CVT transmission (boo!) hold true. And - in side profile, at least - Subaru has left the ugly stick in the cupboard. Stay tuned...

Geared towards the U.S. market reason why this new replacement is so bland ( although I 'm sure the technical bits are going to still be very good ) .. another factor is Subaru has pulled out of the WRC ( and other events ) for quite awhile now the Impreza WRX/STI mystic is slowly eroding, especially now with the new smaller classification of cars in the series.
