New Megane sets fwd ‘Ring Record
The Renaultsport Megane 265 Trophy's just gone round the Nurburgring nine seconds faster than the previous front-wheel drive record holder.
The big-bummed Megane R26R has held the title since 2008 with an 8m 17s time, but was beaten by Renault development driver, Laurent Hurgon, in a standard 265T during his second lap of the morning. He made it round in 8min 7.97sec.

The 265 Trophy uses the same chassis as the standard 250 Cup, a car which is making many friends (well, making friends with the editor and his mates, at least) at TG HQ during current its spell as a long-termer with the magazine. The new edition adds 10kW power boost and a set of Bridgestone Potenza RE05a tyres - previously seen on the Ferrari Enzo.
Want one? Go and bug your Renault dealer, because it's not actually confirmed for Australia yet. More pics and video when we get them...
