TopGear's Definitive V8 Supercar Preview

The 2010 Great Race is as open a contest as we've seen for years - and it's because lead drivers are no longer allowed to share the same car. Not only has that brought into play a number of our best second-stringers, but it's let the big boys off the leash.

As well, the championship race is in a beautiful place; guys like Mark Winterbottom and Craig Lowndes will go for the jugular all race long, because they have a lot less to lose than guys like James Courtney and Jamie Whincup, who will have to think of points all day long.

Then there's the quiet ones... 1998 winner Jason Bright holds provisional pole going into Saturday's shootout, but all the regulars are there and thereabouts too.

It'll be impossible to separate the top 20 all day, I reckon. Weather will play a part - the forecast is for overcast conditions, but that can change in a heartbeat up there - and so will safety cars.

Who's going to win it? Click here to find out more. Hard to go past the 888 car of Craig Lowndes and Mark Skaife, though the #18 of James Courtney and Warren Luff looks bloody strong.

I can't wait...

And check out the first big stack of the weekend...
