Short and Swede
Who remembers fast Volvs? The famous 'R' brand has been dormant for a while now, so until it gets properly lairy again, the Swedish firm is offering a performance upgrade for all cars with a D5 turbodiesel engine.
The power pack is being sold in collaboration with Polestar Performance, which runs an ethanol-powered C30 (pictured) in the Swedish Touring Car series (apparently it does exist).
So you can boost your Volvo, but by only about 12 kW, while keeping your warranty safe and valid. The pack is available from 1 August.
Best tell your grandad to keep a tight hold of the wheel. This could be the quickest he's ever been. He might even get the caravan a bit sideways...
