You want me to spend how much? But it's a Ford, right?

Our verdict

FPV attempts to prove that you can have it all – executive class and proper performance. This trick had already been pulled off by the Germans years ago, but still, it’s a worthy effort.

Comfort

Excellent, really plush seating, a reasonably classy interior and a close-to-cushy ride.

Performance

If 315kW and 551Nm of torque don’t float your boat, then nothing will. Makes a lovely noise, too.

Cool

A tricky one. Maybe if you’re a member of the FPV fan club.

Quality

Actually feels really well put together and properly tricked up with fruitiness. But the remote control for the satnav etc is bloody annoying.

Handling

Manages to dance the line between proper sports car and executive express with some alacrity.

Practicality

Plenty of it. You could turn it into a limo if you really wanted to.

Running costs

Well, it might do 14 litres per 100km, as claimed, but only if you never leave the driveway.
