FPV Pursuit

Sadly the Boss-engined Pursuit Ute is no longer master of the FPV work-and-play stable, priced the same as the F6, the Pursuit is a let down.

• Comfort

  Even without weight in the tray there’s no bounce from the leaf-sprung bum, and while you wouldn’t call the ride plush, it’s hardly agricultural either.

  

• Performance

  With a 5.4-litre V8 under the bonnet hammering out 315kW and 551Nm the Pursuit doesn’t hang about, and will hit the legal limit in 5.9secs. This is the best iteration of the Boss; refined at low speed and angry the rest of the time.

  

• Cool

  Well, that depends on whether you like Bundy and Coke.

  

• Quality

  Better than ever before, but cheap plastics mar the experience.

  

• Handling

  Depends on whether the roads are wet or dry. The big V8 is a heavy sucker and so the Pursuit tends to be led by its nose, unless of course it’s wet when anything but the lightest of throttle openings will snap you sideways.

  

• Practicality

  There’s no room for the kids but your dog will be as happy as a pig in the proverbial around in the tray. Bit tray means there’s plenty of room for hauling hay, or whatever it is you haul around in a ute.

   

  

• Running costs

  The asking price for the Pursuit is line-bally with the turbo’d F6 and it’s a much better thing. Guess we’re saying then that the Pursuit is overpriced.
