Holden Barina

Lots of history, and the cheapest Holden you can buy. Unfortunately, this Barina is a step back from the old days.

• Comfort

  El-cheapo suspension and flat seat bases don't make for the best combination of comfort. But it's not bad in the city, which is what it is designed for.

  

• Performance

  Erm, not much. Let's just say none. As a consequence, though, it's light on fuel usage.

  

• Cool

  No. Unless you are a 17-year-old beauty student.

  

• Quality

  Average at best. Interior is pretty uninspiring.

  

• Handling

  Doesn't appear to.

  

• Practicality

  Sedan makes a better hash of it than the hatch for people carrying. Other than that... it's easy to park?

  

• Running costs

  Cheap to buy, cheap to maintain, and it's easy on the go-juice, too.
