HSV Maloo overall verdict

HSV Maloo
Rated 13 out of 20

Additional Info

Big, boofy sports ute for the successful tradie. Turns more heads than a Lamborghini; trust us, it’s true.

  • Comfort

    Two-up, it's a lounge room on fast-forward.

    Rated 12 out of 20
  • Performance

What, 317kW and 550Nm of torque from a 6.2-litre V8 not quite enough for you? Donor VE chassis can handle it, too.

    Rated 19 out of 20
  • Cool

If you find big, powerful utes cool, then this is very cool. And don't worry, there will be no judgement here.

    Rated 13 out of 20
  • Quality

It's hand-finished by the HSV guys, but it's still a Holden, and you can still get the odd sketchy one.

    Rated 10 out of 20
  • Handling

Excellent. Huge brakes and Magnetic Ride Control switchable shocks gives the best of both worlds. Traction control and stability control are standard fitment.

    Rated 13 out of 20
  • Practicality

Plenty of stowage area behind the seats for little things. Tonneau cover restricts the tray's usefulness, and it's a bear to remove.

    Rated 11 out of 20
  • Running costs

Not cheap. Expensive to insure, needs bloody good tyres to handle the power and weight, needs 98RON and lots of it at 14.5 litres per hundred.

    Rated 19 out of 20
