JOSS JP1 lives!

The JOSS JP1 has been in development for over a decade now – it even featured on the cover of TopGear Australia a few years ago – without ever actually making it all the way to production. Now the company says they’re ready to take the car to market… but they need your help. To the tune of $480,000.

Which is why they’ve taken to Kickstarter to raise the cash. So far, they’ve pulled together just over $25,000. And with a month to go, they need all the help they can get to raise the cash to make the Australian supercar a reality.

The first five vehicles are to be built and sold as ‘Track Specials’, in the vein of the Ferrari XX cars. JOSS say they’re looking at a top speed of 340km/h and acceleration from 0–100km/h around 3.0 seconds.

The cash flow from those five track weapons will allow JOSS to create a road legal version.

A mid-mounted five-litre aluminium V8 with 420kW and 560Nm pushed through the rear wheels. The body itself is a carbon-bodied two-seater, so that the total vehicle weight is estimated at a mere 900kg, which is crazily light.

If you’re really coining it and you kick in more than $8000, you even get a couple of laps at a private test track in the JP1 when it’s finally complete. Check out their Kickstarter page here.
