ABT S1 is red hot

Audi is due to launch its S1 pocket performance hatch locally this quarter, and German tuning specialist ABT Sportsline is ready for those wanting even more power and sharper looks.

From its base in Kempten, west Bavaria, ABT specialises in Audi and VW mods, and this time it has retuned the all-wheel drive S1 Sportback’s 2.0-litre turbo four; bumping power up no less than 34 per cent from an already handsome 170kW, to a snorting 228kW, with torque rising from 370 to 440Nm.

Expect the car’s 0-100km/h time to drop from the factory claim of 5.9secs, into the low five second bracket.

To cope with the extra grunt, the suspension has been upgraded with stiffer springs, that also lower ride height by 30mm. Cooling vents have been let into the front fenders, and new 18 inch alloy rims (up from standard 17s) are shod with 225/35 Z-rated Continental rubber.

Given the car is already available in Europe, ABT Sportsline Australia is ready to upgrade the S1 as soon as it hits Aussie showrooms.
