RHD Mustang is GO!

Ford has released images of the first right hand drive prototype, being used for testing and verification work on the Mustang, prior to its Australian launch in 2015.

On sale in the US from late this year, and eventually more than 110 countries, the updated 2015 model is the first in the Mustang’s 50 year history to be available in factory-built, right-hand-drive form.

Australia is one of 25 new right-hand-drive markets, including the UK and South Africa, to take the sixth-generation pony car.

The US is the largest market for Mustang, with more than 9.2 million sales since the car’s debut in 1964, but more than 161,000 Mustangs have been sold outside North America in that time.

To be offered in coupe and convertible form, the Mustang will be available with a choice of 2.3-litre ‘EcoBoost’ four cylinder petrol turbo or 5.0-litre V8 form.

And stay tuned for a TopGear pre-release drive later this year.
