Best of Detroit 2012
2012 Detroit Motor Show
If the American city of Detroit was a human, it would be missing limbs, looking glum in general, and you would half expect it to ask you for some spare change if you walked past.
Take a drive through its derelict suburbs and boarded-up, abandoned houses sit on almost every corner. It's not the city it used to be. You can buy relatively new, four-bedroom houses here for around $50,000. No joke.
But if the 2012 motor show was any measure of Detroit's health, you would think it was a booming city, like its 1920s heyday, when Detroit was one of the world's most populous and thriving metropolises.
The annual Detroit show is one of the biggies alongside Tokyo, Frankfurt and Geneva. It has its fair share of cool concepts and quirky futuremobiles. And TG Australia was there with its camera, taking happy snaps just for you. Enjoy.
