We get a lot of press releases telling us Exciting News about reliable manufacturers and strategic partnerships. Many of these, because of multifaceted reasons revolving largely around 'boredom', are ignored. This one, however, shoved its supercharged nose right into our inbox and demanded we open it.

That, right there, above these words, is the 'SuperUte'. Seriously, it's a Holden Commodore SS Ute (badged as a Chevrolet Lumina SS) modified by a South African company called LupiniPower, who has deemed it necessary to bump the ute's power up to 400kW and 800Nm worth of torques.

The most obvious, common-denominator headline-grabbing result is a 0-100km/h time of 4.5 seconds, thanks to something called a TractionBar. It's 0.1s quicker than a Porsche 911 Carrera GTS. Though it's been at least ten minutes, so expect another slightly more powerful 911 variant to come along shortly...
