You wouldn’t would you? It’s reliable and comfortable, but the Camry has no soul. Car enthusiasts can stop reading now.
-
Comfort
The ride is reasonable and handles bumpier roads a lot better than you might expect. Cabin noise has been reduced remarkably over the last one, but is still nothing special.
-
Performance
Thrashy four-cylinder’s 117kW is ordinary given it’s a 2.4-litre, and the auto isn’t the latest or greatest. Don’t expect to go anywhere in a hurry. Hybrid does okay, but will rudely surprise you with not-so-great fuel figures in town.
-
Cool
No, it just isn’t. It might be less un-cool than previous models, but that really isn’t saying much.
-
Quality
Quality is one of its key strengths. The Camry feels solid and everything fits together like it should. Extensive local durability has paid off and the fit and finish is spot on.
-
Handling
Thanks to local input, the Camry actually handles better than you might expect, at least in Sportivo form. There is still stuff-all steering feel, so you are still unlikely to feel involved.
-
Practicality
There is a lot of space in here. A Camry has the same interior dimensions as an Aurion, which is classified as a large car. Headroom and legroom in the back are particularly good and the boot is pretty big too. Hybrid version loses room in the boot to battery packs.
-
Running costs
Most Camrys are sold to fleets, so running costs are quite low. Fuel economy is on par with a large six-cylinder when you flog it, but is otherwise cheap to run.
