Mugen tunes the CR-Z
The Japanese tuner - long associated with building bulbous body parts for Hondas - has just released its range of aftermarket tuning bits for the hybrid coupe to the UK, and we’re excited.
You can get front and rear Mugen spoilers, a sports grille, a bodacious rear wing, some groovy brake discs and a high-performance air filter/oil filter/sports exhaust which adds 5bhp giving the Mugen CR-Z’s petrol engine a simply dizzying 117bhp (add the 13bhp electric motor and you get 130bhp).
Shell out just under £2k and you’ll be on the receiving end of some adjustable suspension. Also up for grabs are some GP-style alloy wheels and sports mats, among others.
Spec out everything Mugen has to offer - much like the show car you see above - and you’ll be 14 grand lighter. But this is run-of-the-mill tuner fodder if we’re honest. No, the thing that excites us most about this list of Mugen-shaped goodness is the little stuff. Like knobs. And nuts.
Yes, for the princely sum of £221.76, you can purchase a brand new Mugen knob and some heptagon nuts.
