Yes, the most powerful Peugeot ever is a diesel. It’s 241bhp of powerful, to be precise, and will haul the big coupe to 62mph in 7.7 seconds. It also puts out a meaty 332lb ft of torque and will return 39.2mpg and just 189g/km of CO2.
Are we alone in being slightly surprised that there’s never been a more powerful Peugeot, somewhere in the depths of the French marque’s history, that somewhere, in among all those epic hot hatches, there’s nothing that’d give this worthy but not-especially-exciting 407 a good duffing?
