“The results are, well, predictably chaotic. The team were simply amazing and I thank them for letting me join in.” So says Hammond after evidence of his stint editing venerable comic the Beano hit newsagent’s shelves today. “I was a fan of the Beano as a kid: of course I was. I still am. And when they asked me to be guest editor I couldn’t think of a finer opportunity or one that would have meant more to me as a kid.”

Inside the Grand Prix-themed issue, a cartoon Hammond attempts to uncover the true identity of our tame racing driver, The Stig, while also finding time to help Dennis the Menace create a special race kart. All while batting off the advances of Dennis’ mum, who’s developed a bit of a soft spot for Richard.
