Shelby Daytona news - Cobra Coupe: not worth £10m - 2009
Need car auction advice? Don’t come to Top Gear.
Not only did we manage to put a hot tip on completely the wrong Ferrari at last weekend’s Leggenda e Passione auction - plumping for the 330 P4 that failed to meet its reserve instead of the 250 Testarossa that sold for a world record £8m - well, remember the lovely Shelby Daytona Cobra Coupe we confidently predicted would sell for £10m?
Failed to meet its reserve. Yes, at last weekend’s Spring Classic Auction in Indianapolis, bidding on the 1965 FIA GTIII-winning Cobra fizzled out at a pitiful $6.8m (£4.4m), below its reserve.

Since we’re on a roll, here’s our top tip for the racing today: stick a tenner on Limpy Old Nag in the 14.15 at Towcester. Can’t lose…
