A few weeks ago we showed you a NV200 with a weird new face: Nissan’s new London taxi. You were not impressed. We were not impressed. And Nissan was not impressed that we were not impressed.
But being (a) forward-thinking and (b) fans of crowd-sourcing difficult jobs, we asked you to send us your designs for a new hackney carriage. There were no rules. All you had to do was grab your Etch-A-Sketch/pen and paper/MS Paint and go wild. And boy, did you keep to the incredibly vague brief.
Nissan vice-president Andy Palmer defended his van-based cab as ‘ticking all the boxes’. Unfortunately, Andy, the NV200 doesn’t tick as many boxes as TG’s readers’ designs. Boxes like: will it look out of place at a Star Wars convention? Can it traverse water? And is there a strong chance of the fare ending in horrible injury?
Your finest masterpieces are shown above, masterpieces surely suitable for Neil Buchanan’s gallery. Somewhere in here, we are certain, lurks the work of the next Peter Schreyer, Ian Callum or that-bloke-who-did-the-Pontiac-Aztec.
Mr Palmer, Boris Johnson, Nicholas Serota, enjoy the gallery of our represented artists. We’re waiting for your calls. We charge commission.
