Ka finally gets a diesel engine, which suits it better than the petrol. But it doesn’t make it a remarkable car.
The diesel engine doesn’t transform the new Ka into a worthy successor to the old Ka, but at least it’s economical.
If you want a funkier-looking Fiat Panda, go for it.

What is it?
Disappointing second-generation version of Ford’s groundbreaking 1990s city car. That model was a classic: this one is just a rehashed Fiat 500. Literally.
The Ka was once a byword for driving enjoyment, but that’s no longer the case with this one. The chassis shows no signs of the magic Ford DNA and the engines are weak. Where’s the fun gone, Ford?
On the inside
Although it looks quite different outside, the Ka’s Fiat roots show through within. The dash is straight from the 500, but without the lovely detailing which makes that special. It’s tight on space in there, too.
Economy is OK, reliability should be OK and there are lots of Ford dealers. It’s not as cheap as it should be though - and why buy this when you could buy a Fiat 500 instead?
