The Top Gear car review:Peugeot Partner Tepee
For:3000-litres of luggage space
Against:Silly name, we prefer the Citroen for some reason
1.6 HDi 92 S 5dr
What we say:
The Partner Tepee is another van-with-windows, practical MPV. But we'll take a Citroen Berlingo, thanks
What is it?
It’s another van with windows, this time from Peugeot.
Unsurprisingly, given the Tepee’s van-like dimensions, there’s a bit of body roll, so tell your passengers to hang on if you’re in a rush. Apart from that, they’ll be as comfy as can be back there.
There’s a huge choice of engines, but in a nutshell it has to be a diesel and the 92bhp version is the best compromise between power and economy: it’ll manage 0-60 in 14.3 seconds and still give you 54.3mpg.
On the inside
It’s shaped like a box, the Partner Tepee, so even with the seats up, you still get a very handy 675-litres of luggage space. Stow the rear bench, and that rises to a just-about-anything-beating 3000-litres.
Stick with our recommendation, and the Partner shouldn’t cost you a bomb to run. 54.3mpg means you’ll pass far more fuel stations than you’ll need to visit.
