We just got the call - they escaped with another fine. Have arranged to re-fuel them at a gas station just past a place called... wait for it... Amarillo.

Is this the way to Amarillo?

MH and I have arrived about twenty minutes ahead of the XKR, which has given me time to write this, piss, and sort out the S-Type with fuel so that we're ready for the guys in the XKR. Just wish the laptop would communicate with the world.

Just bought some donuts that taste of wax. Then realise they have a shelf-life of SIX MONTHS. What kind of dough lasts that long?

Have eaten them anyway.

I hate myself.

XKR pulls in. We've been laughing about the cops pulling Pat yet again. That's three times for him, six for the group so far.

They don't seem to like British licences in terms of paperwork. Ha. MH cleans the screen, more weeing. I take some pics with the video camera, but doubt I'll be able to send them without crashing the laptop

OK, so this looks like we're taking things easy, but the entire stop is less than five minutes. And from a psychological point of view, these breaks are getting more and more important. As well as a bit of leg-stretching.

The sky flicks purple and black as we follow the XKR out onto the road. We're laughing and in high spirits. Pat laughs and says that he's going to have to drive even faster to overcome the time deficit the police are giving him.

He's just rocked off with a growl of XKR engine - and some serious intent. We're going to knuckle down for a few hours too - will report back in a while to let you know how we're doing.
