Dude, where's my car?

If you're sick of having bits nicked off your car, perhaps you should consider moving to Bury St Edmunds.

Eric King, an absent-minded motorist of the highest order, left his Ford Focus on a side street to go on a sightseeing tour of the Suffolk town last February - and then forgot where he'd parked.

We've all done it - the 'I'm sure I left it here' monologues, the frenzied pacing of the multi-storey car parks - but sure enough, the car always turns up after a few panicked hours.

But the elusive Focus managed to evade capture until last week. Seven months! That's longer than it takes James May to drive to work.

Our favourite bit of the whole story is that when Mr King was reunited with his car - yes, it was exactly where he left it - it was still in one piece. No missing wing mirrors, no bricks under the axles - just a slightly flat battery.

Tell that story to TG's art editor Owen Norris - he's now lost two sets of alloys and a car stereo to local thieving turds. Good citizens of Bury St Edmunds, we salute you.
