Audi will show off its latest concept, the Shooting Brake, at the Tokyo motor show and has hinted that the car could well make it into production.

Using Audi's 3.2-litre V6 and Quattro four-wheel-drive system, the Shooting Brake manages 0-62mph in six seconds and has a top speed of 155mph. Ceramic brakes bring it all to a halt.

A new 3D version of Audi's Multi Media Interface (MMI) is used in this concept. The driver can simply write on the touch-screen to programme a destination, or use a remote handset, which works in a similar way to a PDA.

The estate styling of the Shooting Brake creates plenty of space for rear passengers and a load bay with 730-litres of capacity.

Audi is remaining tight-lipped about any production plans, but says if public reaction is good at the Tokyo show, the Shooting Brake may move on to the next stage of development.

But that's just the official line. Give the Shooting Brake a coupe roofline and we think you've got the next TT.

The lower body, doors, rear lights and interior are likely to be - at the very least - a strong clue to the new TT's styling.

There's also a good chance Audi might consider putting both a coupe and 'estate' version of the car into priduction. We'll just have to wait and see.
