Mitsubishi has X appeal

That's X as in 10, as in Evo 10. Yes, this is the first all-new body on an Evo since the 7, and the first all-new engine since the very first one. A major change then.

It's here as a concept, anticipating the real thing in mid-2007. It's based on the rather stylish new Lancer body, so that's the end for the old boxiness, but the bulges and scoops are as lairy as ever.

The engine is all new and will be lighter than before but just as powerful - 280bhp minimum, feeding all four wheels by a complex electronically controlled 4WD system.

The body uses aluminium panels for most of the skin including the roof, which will help offset the weight increase of extra crash protection and luxury equipment. Luxury? In an Evo? Well let's just say comfort, then.
