Reassuringly expensive

Lamborghini has announced the price of the new Gallardo LP560-4. Predictably, it's not cheap. As in might-want-to-consider-a-large-scale-bank-heist not cheap.

The coupe version weighs in at a curiously precise £147,330 on the road - up some 23 grand on the old Gallardo. 

You do, however, get more fastness for your cash: the LP560-4 features a new 5.2-litre direct injection V10 developing 552bhp. That's good for a 0-62mph time of just 3.7 seconds and a top speed over 200mph.

Economy and emissions have also been improved over the previous-gen Gallardo, but at 17mpg you'll still probably want to save some of those bank heist spoils for petrol money.

The new Gallardo goes on sale in the UK this summer. You might have to hold off buying that island you've always wanted until next year, then.
