JCB 'tractor' tops 300mph

Land-speed record holder Andy Green is at it again, but this time he'll be going flat out in a tractor.

Not just any tractor, though. This one is a specially designed JCB that is reckoned to be good for 300mph.

The 9.1m long machine, called the JCB Dieselmax, uses a breathed-on version of the standard tractor's 4.4-litre turbodiesel engine, with two units producing 750bhp each.

A first test run is planned for the summer on slat flats in the US.
