Old wrecks race across Europe

Fancy the Gumball, but don't reckon you could put up with the toffs? Then check out CzechWrecks.

No fancy supercars, speed boats or planes here. No siree. This is a straight dash from London to Prague in cars that cost no more than £100.

Inspired by the sell-out Staples2Naples event, which uses the same low-budget rules, CzechWrecks runs through France, over the Swiss Alps and into Italy, before heading into the Czech Republic and Prague.

A huge part of the event's appeal is competing in cars that you can simply throw away when you finish the race, and the organisers even have a prize for the team that breaks down earliest in the race and manages to hitchhike to the finish.

There's a £1,000 prize for the winning team on the CzechWrecks run, which starts on September 1. If you fancy leaving a trail of exhaust smoke across Europe, have a look at www.czechwrecks.com.

Come to think of it, we think we might have a go. Watch this space...
