Toyota has upped the Avensis' game with a pair of new turbodiesels to go along with a mild mid-life facelift.
Hawk-eyed readers will spot the revised grille, front and rear lights, and door mirrors that now incorporate side indicators.
But the big news are the D-4D 130 and T180 diesel engines.
The 2.2-litre T180 has a thumping 175bhp and 295lb ft of torque, which is sufficient to see off 0-62mph in 8.6 seconds.
Fuel economy of 46.3mpg is impressive, while company car users will appreciate the 161g/km carbon dioxide emissions.
The T180 costs from £21,515 and comes with Alcantara trim and 17in alloy wheels.
The D-4D 130 starts at £16,015, with a 124bhp 2.0-litre engine.
