What to look for
The old car was facelifted in 2004, which mainly consisted of the large Audi grill (or 'beard', as it's known) fitted. There was a large choice of engines, but the best is either the 1.8T or the 1.9-litre TDI. The old A4 Avant isn't the most practical of estates, but they can be worked hard so inspect the rear load bay closely.

Used Prices
The pre-facelift model still continues to command a large used price. The very last of the facelift have lost 40 per cent off their original value. The Avant generally has a £1,000 premium.
