Welcome to the Top Gear shopping channel and, yes, it's that time again, when we offer you the TG Bargain of the Day. But before we get to that, let me first mention some other offers we've got coming up on TGTV today: including a pheromone spray designed to make your car interior a hit with the ladies and the Easy Squeegee DIY windscreen cleaning kit that, for a limited period, comes with your very own set of traffic lights. But more of them later, because next up, we've got the fabulous BMW 318Ci.
Before we start, can I just say that I know what you're thinking. You've taken a look at the car, you like its understated lines, but you're thinking: 'It's just not practical for the kind of life I lead'. Well, think again, because one thing the BMW can't be accused of is putting style over substance. Unlike other so-called 'useable coupes' on the market, the BMW is a proper four-seater; there's even a decent boot which ensures it's possible to own the kind of car you've always wanted without compromising practicality. True, it doesn't exactly come loaded with gadgets, but just look at the quality of that interior - this really is a case of less being more.
But you're still worried, aren't you? You're thinking: 'Well, it might be roomy enough for me, but how on earth can I afford to run it?' Well, don't feel stupid, because a lot of people make exactly the same mistake. What you have got to remember is that BMW's 1.9-litre, 118bhp, four-cylinder engine is no gas guzzler; indeed, the manufacturer promises a perfectly reasonable 35.8mpg.
This healthy dose of frugality doesn't come at the expense of performance, however... well, not much anyway. BMW claims a 0-62mph time of 10.4secs and a top speed of 128mph. What they don't tell you, and, unfortunately, it's not something we can demonstrate in the studio today, is the grunty noise of the engine which is out of this world. More importantly, there's a decent amount of torque to ensure instant acceleration is accessible wherever you are in the rev range... hang on a minute... yes, I'm being told that a quarter of the stock has already sold out, so you'll need to hurry if you want one via TGTV today.
If you're still unsure, let me tell you the price. Now you're not going to believe this, but the BMW offers unbeatable value today at just £22,150 on the road. No, I can't quite believe how much car you're getting for the money myself but... oh dear, I'm afraid all stock has now gone...
OK, now let's move on to our next great offer: the Easy Squeegee windscreen cleaner. Now this really does make the ideal gift...
