Performance
A whole plethora of engines from 1.2
litres up but the only ones to consider
for anything near performance are the
84bhp 1.5 dCi or 95bhp 1.6 petrol.
Driving
The Kangoo's ride is much more kindly than a
van, but not on a par with the Scenic's.
Handling is tidy enough, with predictable
roll through the bends, and equally
predictable understeer if you push it.
Space
Gives plenty of head, knee and elbow-
room. The luggage area is huge with the
seats up, cavernous with them down.
Build quality
Interior has a very utilitarian feel with big
chunky switches, but it's well made with
decent plastics and not too agricultural.
Engines will match the robust image.
Equipment
A CD player is standard but aircon is an
option only. The 1.6 Authentique has an
automatic gearbox as standard.
Safety
Kangoo occupants are protected by two
airbags and... that's it. Very poor.
Owning
Easy on the wallet day-to-day but the
car suffers from chronic depreciation.
Value
Cheap for a roomy and versatile MPV.
Similarly priced to the Berlingo /Partner.
Verdict
It may not be the prettiest car but it's
inexpensive, roomy, versatile and will
stand up to a lot of abuse. So, perfect
for families with young children.
