Saab 9-3

Saab 9-3

There's a Vectra lurking under the Saab 9-3, so the basic mechanics are sound. On the down side, there's a Vectra lurking under here

What to look for
Based on the Vauxhall Vectra, using many of its engines and running gear the Saab 9-3 is technically robust, with little to be careful of. A full Saab service history is a must, though. The 2.2 diesel was replaced by the newer 1.9 in 2004. It may be older, but if you can find one it gives a little bit more torque.

Used prices
The 9-3 Sport Saloon has been out long enough and there's enough ex-fleet cars on the market for it to become good value. Look out for three year old 2.2 diesels with 60k miles for £8k.
