Skoda Fabia
It’s a little known fact, but due to steel shortages at the start of last century, some engine parts of early Skodas were made out of pieces of left over battenberg. It was perhaps in homage, then, that this grin-inducing idea came about a few years back. But was it actually real? You betcha. The recipe called for no less than 179 eggs, 100kg each of flour and caster sugar and 12.5kg of jam, with strips of liquorice used to create the fanbelt, windscreen wipers and aerial. Sweet.
