2014 Harley-Davidson Street Glide on sale now
The Project Rushmore-enriched Street Glide rumbles into India
Harley-Davidson introduced the 'Project Rushmore' campaign in August this year. This program, which takes into account the improvements and additions that current Harley touring bike owners demand, brought along several innovations for the big bikes in the range. Now, Harley's launched the 2014 Street Glide, a bike having benefited from this Rushmore program in India.
Powered by the new Twin Cam 103 engine that puts out 138Nm of torque, the 2014 Street Glide also features a new 'Batwing' fairing, dual halogen headlamps, 10-spoke alloys, revised front forks and suspension to improve feedback, hydraulic clutch control and Reflex Linked Brakes with ABS, a system that, at speeds of over 40kph, distributes equal stopping power to the front as well as the rear brakes when you pull the brake lever.
The fairing also houses a new 4.3-inch colour screen-equipped infotainment system, and it provides a USB port so that you can plug in your SD card, and Bluetooth connectivity that lets you stream music from your phone, or, with the help of the new Voice Recognition system, lets you operate your phone with voice commands. There's redesigned saddlebags with one-touch latches, upgraded instrument cluster graphics and re-positioned controls.
The Street Glide is being brought into the country as a completely-built unit (CBU), and understandably, it retails at a rather high Rs 29 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi. Ideal bike for that cross-country trip?
