DSK Motowheels launch the Hyosung GT 250R
Mere days after announcing their foray into the two-wheeler segment with S&T Motors, DSK Motowheels have launched the much-awaited Hyosung GT 250R sportsbike. The GT 250R is armed with a V-Twin displacing 249cc, that produces 27.6bhp of power at 10,000RPM and 22.07Nm of torque, with Hyosung claiming a top speed of 140kph.
Hyosung call the GT 250R "The Big Boy", and that's for a reason. With a 1435mm wheelbase, the GT 250R is a shade larger in terms of dimensions when compared to other 250cc motorcycles in the segment. Weighing in at a hefty 188kg (with fuel on-board), the GT 250R is rightly equipped with a 17-litre fuel tank.
The GT 250R is also equipped with features like double disc front brakes, Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI), twin projector headlamps, upside down (USD) front forks to go along with an adjustable rear seat. The bike will be sold across all DSK Motowheels dealerships in the country - 18 of them to be precise - and will be available in three colour combinations - White & Red, Silver & Red and Red & Black. Sounds sinister.
And that brings us on to the price. DSK Motowheels have priced the Hyosung GT 250R at Rs 2.75 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), pitting the new entrant right against the accomplished player, the Kawasaki Ninja 250R.
Speaking at the launch of the motorcycle in Mumbai, Mr. Shirish Kulkarni, Director, DSK Motowheels said, “It gives us immense pleasure to launch this first product under the strategic alliance between DSK and Hyosung. We are confident that the GT 250R will set a benchmark in the 250cc segment by taking superbiking industry to the next level. With the new product we want to create an aspirational brand and not just play on the price point.”
“Further, we are very passionate about promoting superbiking culture in India by introducing niche products for our valuable customers and superbiking fraternity as a whole”, he added.
