Honda refreshes scooter line-up for 2013
The Activa, Aviator and Dio receive Honda's new Eco tech, report a boost in economy figures
Honda 2 Wheelers India has quite an envious product range, at least when it comes to its scooter line-up - consisting of the versatile Aviator, the youthful Dio and the highest-selling scoot in India, the Activa. However, it does realise that to stay on top of the market, its products need constant improvements.
Which is precisely why it has refreshed its automatic scooter line-up for 2013. The Activa, Aviator and the Dio - featuring the same 110cc single-cylinder engine, produce 8bhp and an improved 8.74Nm of torque, and now feature Honda's latest "HET" that stands for "Honda Eco Technology". Essentially, Honda's worked on reducing engine friction, improving combustion and optimising the powertrain's components. All of this helps drive up the fuel economy figures for all three scooters by around 11%, or in plain numbers, to a claimed 60kpl, a figure that probably makes them the most fuel-efficient automatic scooters on sale today.
Also, all three scoots get new shades this year - the Activa can be had in 'Wild Purple', the Aviator in 'Royal Gold' and the Dio in 'Pearl Trance Yellow'.
Speaking at the launch, Mr. Keita Muramatsu - President & CEO, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd said, " 2013 is a year when we excite customers with speed. As India becomes the Global Innovation hub for Honda, customers can look forward to new products by Honda every quarter and also faster delivery of some of our higher demand models with the start of operations of 3rd facility at Karnataka soon".
The HET-equipped Activa has been priced at Rs 56,334, the Aviator Std at Rs 56,575 and Deluxe at Rs 62,539, while the Dio will retail at Rs 52,638 (all prices on-road, Mumbai).
