It's becoming a trend with bike manufacturers these days - develop one engine, launch it in a particular motorcycle, and after a year or so, roll out another variant with the same powertrain. That seems to be they key to keeping buyers and enthusiasts glued to the brand.

Last year, KTM introduced the 1290 Super Duke R, which has a 1,301cc, 177bhp V-twin motor. Now, the same engine has been slotted into its new adventure series motorcycle. It’s called the 1290 Super Adventure, and that’s all we know for now. KTM is tight-lipped on the details, so apart from the engine size, we don't know much else about the Super Adventure's powerplant for now.

But wait, we do have a juicy tidbit for hardcore touring fans. The bike gets Bosch-developed Motorcycle Stability Control (MCS) apart from ABS and traction control. There will be a host of electronic aids to make those long-distance rides easier. For further details, we will have to wait till September 30, which is when the bike will be unveiled at the Intermot show in Cologne.

The Super Adventure aside, what we are really waiting for is the long-rumoured 390 Adventure. It will be, for all intents and purposes, more practical for Indian budgets and riding conditions. Agreed, TopGearers?
