TVS launches Jupiter, a scooter for men

According to TVS, men are from Jupiter, not Mars. Or is that Chacha Chaudhary reference?

In a world where bigger is considered better, TVS has shown its biggest offering in the scooter market - the Jupiter. Targeted squarely at men, the Jupiter will now fight for market share with Yamaha's Ray Z and the Honda Aviator.

On the styling front, the Jupiter comes across as fairly average. It doesn't sport any decals or distinctive stylish elements, which doesn't really make it stand out of the scooter crowd. It does however, look bigger than the TVS Wego - the scooter it shares its platform with. The 110cc motor is also sourced from Wego, and makes 8bhp of power and 8Nm of torque. TVS claims that with this power output, the Jupiter can give a mileage of 62kpl, but of course, we'll test that claim out for ourselves.

TVS also claims to have loaded the Jupiter with features. There is an 'Eco Mode' and 'Power Mode' indicator to help owners achieve better fuel efficiency. A 5-litre fuel tank with an external fuel lid (again, like the Wego), rear gas shock absorber, pass beam switch and a low fuel indicator.

The TVS Jupiter is priced at Rs 44,400, ex-showroom Delhi and goes on sale in North India today. Sales in South India will follow soon.

We will be getting a test ride of the Jupiter soon, so stay tuned for our detailed report. Of course, don't let that stop you from telling us about your first impressions in the comments below.
