Apollo tyres: tyred and tested
In 2009, Apollo acquired Dutch tyre maker Vredestein BV, which makes tyres for high-end cars at its facility in the Netherlands. While the buyout is officially complete, you may have to wait a few months before you can fit Dutch rubber on your car in India.
Apollo has also set up an R&D facility in the Netherlands, to work on new tread patterns and rubber compounds to improve tyre performance and longevity. The centre will cater to all three brands under the umbrella – Apollo, Vredestein and Dunlop (Apollo acquired distribution rights for Dunlop in Africa in 2006).
